Passed away unexpectedly, with her loving family by her side Friday, May 12, 2023 at U of M Ann Arbor Hospital; age 52 years. Renee was born on December 25, 1970 in Flint, MI, to James and June Kerns; they survive her. Renee graduated from Ferris State University. She married David Somerville on May 28, 1999 at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church. Renee was employed by Town Center Family Dental for 31 years. She was member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church. Renee was an avid volunteer and giver of her time; the most important part of her life was her family.
Surviving besides her husband David and her parents are their three children Tyler, Lauren and Colin Somerville of Frankenmuth; parents James and June Kerns of Flushing; one sister Kelly (Mickey) Holmquist of Linden; close niece and nephew Garrett and Addison, and many other special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, close cousins, and close family and friends.
Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 Vates St., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Rev. Ryan Wenburg will officiate. Cremation to follow. Renee’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Frankenmuth, on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to The American Cancer Society or the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church.
