Alberta M. Newman
Age 85 of New Lothrop passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility.
A private family committal service will be held at Flint Memorial Park and a public memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
Alberta was born on May 1, 1935 to Cecil and Rachel (Lowing) Little in Flint. She married Dwayne "Bud" Newman on May 16, 1953; he predeceased her in 1987 after 34 years of marriage. She then married Norbert Emmendorfer at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove on July 19, 2003; they have celebrated 17 years together.
Alberta spent her life as a loving homemaker. She owned and operated her own jewelry store, and she also worked at Gracie's for some time. During her life, she enjoyed collecting knick-knacks from yard sales. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards and games. Above all, Alberta loved caring for her 3 sons; she would do anything for them. They were her pride, joy, and the light of her life.
Alberta is survived by her husband, Norbert Emmendorfer; her sons, Garth (Georgianne) Newman, and Kirk Newman (Tammy Licquia); her grandchildren, Eric, Garrett, Alex, Nadina, Alexis, and Theresa; 8 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marlene Gardner.
She is predeceased by her parents; her son, Kevin Newman; her first husband, Dwayne "Bud" Newman; her sisters, Gloria and Marie; and her brothers, Archie, Eddy, Bobby, and George Little.
