CARLISLE, Charles Layton “Chuck” – Of Flint, age 92, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his home.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint
Visitation 2-6pm Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, where the funeral service will be held
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Chuck was born May 13, 1928, in Flint, the son of Clarence Carlisle and Martha (Schwabauer) Carlisle. He was mostly raised by his father and grandmother, Bertha Carlisle. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1946. He married Beatrice “Hope” Carlisle on March 27, 1951 and they remained together for 59 years until her death in 2010. He proudly served his country for two years during the Korean War in the U.S Army Field Artillery (a decorated combat veteran). He graduated from General Motors Institute, now Kettering University, in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for General Motors for the next 30 years as a foreman, general foreman and assistant superintendent. He retired from Buick Engineering in 1986.
Surviving are his sons Stuart (Sharon) of Grosse Pointe Woods and Alan (Myong) of Flint; grandchildren Lindsay, Lauran, Andrew and Jonathan (Courtney) great grandchild Lexi. He loved his family and his country and he took care of both.
