Smorch, Frank J, formerly of Flint and Davison, MI, age 94, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Rochester, MI. He was born September 21, 1929, in Flint, MI, to Frank and Leona (Pepin) Smorch. He grew up in Flint and graduated from All Saints High School in 1947. He then enlisted in the Army and re-enlisted in the Air Force where he served 27 years total. Eight of those years were served recruiting for the Air Force in the Flint, MI office. He was married to Dorothy Bodek for nearly 60 years, until her death on November 5, 2018.
He is survived by his son Dennis (Valerie) Smorch of Beals, ME, Jillian (Dan) Olmack of Rochester Hills, MI and son Ted Smorch of Burton. He also leaves grandchildren, Lesley (Mike) Lewark, Scott Smorch, Devin Olmack, Jeffrey Olmack and great-granddaughter, Lily Lewark. He is preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Kyle Marie Olmack and his siblings Ted Smorch, Edward Smorch, Lucille Laskowski, Patricia Diller and Leonard Smorch.
Cremation has taken place per Frank’s wishes, but a full military honors burial will take place in summer 2024 at Van Hoosen Jones Stoney Creek Cemetery in Rochester Hills, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to TADSAW.org (Train a Dog; Save a Warrior) in San Antonio, TX. This organization rescues dogs to train as medical alert service dogs for Veterans.
