BERRY, VIRGINIA L. – Formerly of Burton, age 95, died Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Springvale Assisted Living.
Private funeral service will be held, Chaplain Don Cox officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries.
Visitation 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Virginia was born in Flint, Michigan on November 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Daisy (King) Keene.
On November 30, 1943 she married Homer C. Berry in Flint.
In earlier years she loved to bowl, sew and play Bingo at Leisure Lake.
She attended Central Church of the Nazarene whenever possible.
Mrs. Berry worked for Genesee County, retiring in 1985.
She loved volunteering for the City of Burton on their Election Boards; was also Grand Marshall along with her husband for the Burton’s Memorial Day Parade.
After her husband’s death in 2017; she became a resident of Springvale Assisted Living in Swartz Creek. She loved all the residents, staff and caregivers. She enjoyed all the entertainment, games and parties before COVID.
Surviving are daughter, Sandra (John) Allen;
9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in 2017; daughter, Joyce Hendrickson; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Special thank you to Toni at Laurus Hospice; Shannon and Emily for their special care and every caregiver at Springvale that cared for mom.
