WHEELER, Mark Andrew - Of Davison, age 66, was welcomed into Heaven by his son, Markie on Thursday, April 22, 2021 after a 3 ½ week battle with Covid-19 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.

A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Marvin Downs officiating.

Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the funeral home.

Mark was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on September 5, 1954, the son of Lyle and Mary Jane Wheeler. He attended Wayne Schools until 1965 when the family moved to Hartland, Michigan. He graduated from Hartland high School, Class of 1973. He enlisted in the United States Navy the following year. Mark served in the USS Richard E. Byrd guided missile destroyer as a Boiler Tech 3rd Class. While there he earned the nickname “Speedy” because he completed tasks so quickly. In 1975, while home on leave to be a groomsman in a friend’s wedding, he met his future wife, Susie Borden. They were married on May 7, 1976, in Burton, Michigan after which Susie followed him to Norfolk, Virginia to finish his service in the Navy. Soon after they moved back to Michigan and started their family and had 3 children. The family moved to Davison in 1983. Mark worked for General Motors for 42 years, first in Flint, and was currently at the Warren Tech Center, as a Stationary Engineer. He had planned to retire June 1st of this year. Mark loved his family first and foremost and loved to work on cars, golf, play Euchre, play with his 9 grandchildren and get together with his 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He was loved by many others, made an impact on many lives and was a true Christian.

Mark leaves behind his devoted wife of almost 45 years, Susie;

Daughter, Robin Brock;

Son, Michael Wheeler and his wife, Aleshia;

Daughter, Rebecca Wheeler and her husband, Jeremiah.

He leaves behind 9 grandchildren; Madi, Claire and Emerson Brock, Natalie, Chase and Avery Wheeler and Caroline, Declan and Oliver Wheeler.

Also surviving are his brothers, Steve (Michelle), Brian (Lisa), John (Sue), Bob (Cheryl), and Bill (Karen);

Sisters, Penny, Patsy Lambert and Betsy Krupansky (Dave);

many nieces and nephews;

brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Christine Holman;

aunt, Tish Wheeler;

many cousins and good friends, Mark and Collen and Brad and Connie.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Andrew Jr., parents, Lyle and Jane, infant sister, Brenda, grandparents, Howard and Rhea Wheeler and Carmack and Dorothy Smith, and parents of his wife, Otto and Patricia Borden.

The family wants to give special thanks to nurses Samantha, Judy, Dan, Margie, Melissa and the many doctors that have cared for him over the years.
