McCARTY, Charlene – of Davison, MI, age 77, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Charlene’s memory.
Charlene was born in Pontiac, MI on October 10, 1944, daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Morgan) Lay. She married Charles McCarty on September 23, 1964. Charlene was a sports enthusiast and fierce supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. She was a strong animal rights activist and a generous supporter of numerous animal advocacy groups and shelters.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Charles; children, Dawn (David) Knight; siblings, Robert (Lisa) Lay and Arthur Lay; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Clara; sisters, Shirley Walker and Mary Jane Lay; and brother, Carl Lay.
