Frederick George “Fred” Hanzek, Sr. passed peacefully at home in Flushing, Michigan, lovingly surrounded by his family. He left us as he lived: with an admirable gentleness, unassuming dignity, and quiet strength.
An original Kresge team member, always-armed portrait photographer, inveterate cookie jar plunderer, and superfan of every team his kids and grandkids played for, Fred’s interests revolved around his family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna (née Disberry); his daughter, Jayne (Gary) Nielsen; son, Fred Jr. (Jeanna); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Joseph; brothers, Joseph and Jim; sisters, Maxine and Marilyn; and daughter, Theresa (Rory) Hennessey.
A private family service will be held at later date. |
