CLAPP, CHARLES E. - Of Parrish, Florida, formerly of Clio, age 77, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held 11am Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Great Lakes National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be immediately following in Fenton, Michigan.
Erik Cloeter of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the family in turn to be given to "Garden's Veterans Group” for the Honor Flight.
Charles was born in Flint, Michigan on June 2, 1944 the son of the late Frank and Beatrice J. Clapp. Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from July 1969 to April 1971. On February 27, 1970, he married Jane Azelton in Flint, Michigan. Charles retired from the Flint Journal in 2002 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, FL, The Garden's Veteran's Group, Palm Lake Social Club, VFW-Clio, MI. Charles enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included bowling, golfing, traveling, collecting and sorting baseball cards and watching sports on TV.
Surviving are wife, Jane;
daughters, Teresa Pinder (Patrick Gorman), and Pamela Sanchez (Moe) and son, Timothy Azelton (Jennifer);
grandsons, Brandt, Lance and Kory Sanchez and Nicholas Pinder;
granddaughters, Sophia and Raelyn Azelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice Clapp, sisters, Linda Clapp and Patricia Hilliard and his beloved granddaughter, Crystal Reddy.
