IGNACE, Ellen Jane (Madden) – of Flint, MI, age 85, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7:30 PM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Rosary Kitchen, in Jane’s memory.
Jane was born in Flint, MI on August 31, 1934, daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen (Otway) Madden. She was a graduate of St. Matthew Catholic School in Flint, MI Class of 1952. Jane married Joseph Elias Ignace on May 15, 1954 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint, MI. Joseph preceded her in death on October 17, 2006. Jane worked at Holy Rosary Catholic Church retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She was also a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 60 years. Jane was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening, baking and was known as “Grams”.
Jane is survived by 5 children, Juliann (Paul) Martel, Janis (Mark) Dye, Jill (Mark) Frase, Joan (Kirk) DeFrates and John Ignace; 11 grandchildren, Kristina (David) Eng, Kevin (Amy) Martel, Keri (Steve) Holliday, Christopher (Julie) Dye, Kyle (Jamie) Dye, Joshua (Elizabeth) Ignace, Jeremy (Maggie) Ignace, Danielle (Josh) Halstead, Adam Frase, Charlie (Jakia) Brunell and Calla (Simon) Walshe; 23 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marcia Ignace; 2 sisters, Marian O’Boyle and Dorothy (Richard) Kritlow; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ellen Madden; husband of 52 years, Joseph Elias Ignace; son, Joseph J. Ignace; grandson, Michael Dye; 3 brothers, Raymond Madden, Joseph Madden and Arthur Madden; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Athena Woodson, Barretta Manuel, Barbara Gagnon and the Ellis and Gunn families for their loving and compassionate care of Jane.
