Michael John Herrington passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at Acension St. Mary’s in Saginaw at the age of 67 years. He was born in Flint on March 14, 1956 the son of the late Donald and Joclin (Henderson) Herrington.
Mike was a devoted and hardworking husband and father. He was united in marriage to Janet Miller on April 8, 1978 and after 40 years together, she preceded him in death on July 11, 2018. Mike worked for many years at Means Industries until its closure in Vassar in 2008. He then worked for Aramark at the Flint Truck and Bus Plant while he attended classes to be a Medical Assistant. This was a career he diligently pursued later in life, but never completed because he needed to stay home and care for his ailing wife. Mike and his family are avid University of Michigan FANS and spent many Saturday afternoon watching games from home and even a few trips to the Big House. Mike had a loving, witty and compassionate spirt and will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving family include his children, Stacy (Joe) Grimshaw, John (Mandy) Herrington and Jodi (Eric) Burgess; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Main-Clark, Ben and Abi Grimshaw, Riley and Adrian Herrington and Evan Burgess; siblings, Donnie Herrington, Alan (Tammy) Herrington and Luann (Jay Whitney) Klein as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Schott and brother, Russell Herrington.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. Pastor Darwin Highlen officiating with interment to follow at Tuscola Township Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution may consider the wishes of the family. |
