THAYER, Donna M. - Of Swartz Creek, age 87, died Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Oaks of Woodfield.
An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00pm with Reverend Harold Schneider officiating.
Visitation 12:00pm on Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to YWCA Women’s Shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Donna was born in Flint, Michigan on July 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Virgil and Clara (Sanford) Tate and was a resident of Swartz Creek for many years. She was a graduate of Northern High School, Class of 1953. Upon graduation, she married Richard Thayer and they had 3 children. Donna was employed with General Motors Parts Division in Swartz Creek for 33 years. She was also a member of Nourmahal Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars (formerly Davison Chapter).
Surviving are son, Richard (Trisha) of Linden, MI;
daughter, Karen White of Swartz Creek, MI;
grandchildren, Laurie (Chad) Welch, Sarah Thayer, Katherine Mandall and Sean (Sara) White;
4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren;
siblings, Carolynn (Gene) Fanger, Evelyn (Kent) Adams and Virgil (Ed) Tate;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn (Doug) Cato, sister, Marian Tate and brother, Robert (Mary) Tate.
