NUCKOLLS, Stephen Michael – of Grand Blanc, Michigan, age 57, passed on the morning of Thursday, September 3, 2026, at McLaren Flint. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held 1 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Josh Combs officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until the time of service.
Stephen (“Stevie”) was born in Flint on September 29, 1968, to his parents Sarah (Jim) Garrison and Michael Nuckolls. He attended the Elmer Knopf Learning Center and the Vocational Independence Program where he formed relationships with many staff and students. Recently, he proudly “retired” from the Wolcott Center.
Stevie was TRULY the best guy ever! His smile was infectious–he lived every single day with positivity and cheer, and he loved people! He also had several passions. He loved music; in fact, he could hear a song and almost immediately play it “by ear”. He enjoyed singing and was the first on the dance floor at any party. A faithful Detroit Tigers fan, he often recounted the 1984 World Series team and even once met Al Kaline while attending a game at Comerica Park.
Stevie was happiest when he was with others. As a child, neighbors in Concord Green subdivision knew him well. He visited their porches carrying a bag filled with his keyboard, his Bible, and his preaching stick. Every August, Steve could be found at the Lois Craig Invitational for the Special Olympics of Michigan. He ran down Flint’s famous bricks waving to all like the local celebrity he was while earning his Crim medal. Most important to Stephen, he was a true follower of Jesus. He knew the Lord personally and could be found on any given day preaching the Gospel to the world.
Stephen is survived by his parents: Sarah (Jim) Garrison and Michael Nuckolls; his brothers and their wives: Rob (Michelle) Nuckolls and Jeff (Mary) Nuckolls; his nieces and nephews: Sydney (Blaine) Weld, Logan (Madison) Nuckolls, Hudson Nuckolls, and Kiersten Nuckolls; his great niece, Lorelai Nuckolls; as well as many beloved cousins and friends. Stephen was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Wintress Nuckolls, his maternal grandparents Norm and Mary Jane Jones, and his step-siblings Darrin Garrison and De Ana Woods.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Stevie’s group home, Quality Living Systems, P.O. Box 7029, Flint, MI 48507. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Jamie, the employees, and Stevie’s fellow residents for their special love and care! Stephen treasured you all!
His memory will forever live in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
