GARZA, Abel –
Abel Garza, our beloved father, was called home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 with his wife, Elida Garza of 32 years by his side.
Visitation 12 p.m. and Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Omar Odette officiating.
In his early years, Abel traveled abroad while serving his country willingly and proudly as a Sergeant in the US Army Engineer Corps. Upon exiting his service, he returned to his home in Flint, Michigan.
Abel enjoyed spending time and visiting with his family and friends, especially his twin brother, Adam. Whenever Abel got the chance, he would take care packages to others. He was a man who could and would make a friend anywhere he went and somehow was always able to make them part of his family. He was a talented man and liked working with his hands and used his skills to build furniture and tinkered with cars.
He is survived by his wife Elida Garza; children: Sophia Garza, Victoria (Matthew) Garza-Stevens and Robert (Kate) Martinez; Grandchildren: Jessica Garza, Aeryk Engelbrecht, Robby (Tessa) Martinez, Shelby Gooden and Olivia Martinez; Great Grandchildren: Paige, Madison, Braylon and Italiana; brothers: Adam, Richard and Riley and sisters: Jane Tompkins and Lucy; and his buddy “Boss” his dog.
Abel’s kind, sensitive, funny, caring and wise heart will be missed dearly. We praise God for giving all of us the opportunity to share our lives with him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Emeterio and Maria Garza; brothers: Ray and Paul; godson: Aciano Carrasco; step-son: Luz Martinez and too many family and too many friends to mention but not forgotten.
