ANGELL, Betty Carolyn - Of Davison, age 86, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Betty was born in Bemis, Tennessee on September 21, 1936, the daughter of the late Cortos and Linnie Mae (Webb) Twyman. Eventually Betty made her way to Michigan where she met the love of her life, Eugene Angell. The two were married on February 23, 1957. Together they created a beautiful family and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Gene preceded her in death on September 13, 2018.
Betty was affectionately known for Southern charm and impressive cooking skills. Many memories were made at her dinner table with family, friends and strangers alike. Betty also enjoyed shopping and going to garage sales. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was employed at McLaren Hospital in Flint, MI where she eventually retired after more than 20 years. Even after retirement she never slowed down. Betty and Gene were actively involved in Elf Khurafeh Shriners groups where they frequently attended events. During the summers they enjoyed spending time at their second home in Au Gres, MI where they gained many wonderful friends.
Surviving Betty are her children: Pam Bailey, David Angell, Jill (Matthew) Martorelli;
grandchildren: Megan VanDerWerken, Lauren Bailey, Ally Bailey and Tyler (Tiffany) Brown;
great-grandchildren, Kennedy VanDerWerken, Jaxon VanDerWerken;
As well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene Angell grandson, Matthew Angell, sister Birdie Mae, and brothers Sid and Bill.
End of life services will be held 12 Noon Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Pastor Steve Wood will be officiating.
Visiting hours will be held 5-8pm Thursday and 10am Friday until time of service for those wishing to share farewell sentiments.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI to follow.
Contributions may be made to the family.
