CROSS, Victor – of Clio, age 96, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his residence. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 11AM until 7PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Honoring Victor’s wishes, cremation will follow, and burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Veterans Battle of the Bulge, 87th Infantry Division Legacy Association, Tightline for Troops, Fish on for Freedom, or the Flushing Historical Society.

Victor was born October 8, 1925, in Flint, to the late Milo H. and Edna (Girton) Cross. He attended Flint Central High School where he received his high school diploma. Victor proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the 87th Infantry Division, 345th Regiment B Company. The 87th Infantry Division was one of twenty infantry divisions that fought bravely during the Battle of the Bulge in Europe from 1944 until 1945. Victor received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and returned home where he worked in various jobs. He eventually joined General Motors becoming a skilled trade machinist until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, especially to his division reunions and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge tours to Europe, and with Ann’s Adventures. He also enjoyed eating out with his luncheon cronies, the ROMEOs (Rowdy Old Men Eating Out) and dancing at various venues. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting in Michigan (deer hunting for the last time at age 95), out West, Canada, and Africa. Victor loved to go fishing throughout the area with his family and friends. Above all, Victor was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Victor is survived by his sons: Richard (Carol) Cross and Craig “Marty” (Jamie) Cross; Grandchildren: Peter (Alicia) Cross, Richard B. Cross, and Charles (Kristen Nickerson) Cross; Great grandchildren: Owen Cross, Blake Cross, Ellie Cross, Wylie Cross, Olyve Cross; Stepson: Ralph “Nick” (Linda) Niedecken; Step grandchildren: Kamryn Nickerson, Charles (Samantha) Schutt, Daniel Schutt, Faith Schutt, Scott (Shannon) Niedecken, Todd (Cathy) Niedecken, and Kimberly Anderson; Step great grandchildren, Isabella Schutt, Aaron Niedecken, Alia Niedecken, Alex Niedecken, Mark Niedecken, Kaley Niedecken, Isabella Shutt. Great-great grandchild Katelyn Niedecken. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Milo H. and Edna; Siblings, Ray, Milo T. “Mike”, Mary, Rosie, Edna, Edith, David, and James; Stepson, Jim Niedecken.
