STURGIS, Dennis “Poppy” – Of Swartz Creek, age 77, died Monday, December 19, 2022 at McLaren-Flint.
Cremation has taken place and a military service will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Dennis was born in Flint, Michigan on September 6, 1945, the son of
Thomas and Olga (Barks) Sturgis.
Dennis married his high school sweetheart on July 31, 1965. He worked for GM for over 30 years, and was a member of UAW, VFW and American Legion.
He proudly served in the United States Army from June 1966 to March 1969.
Dennis was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was always willing to help others. He was sometimes silly and had a great sense of humor. He loved classic cars and spent many summers on the water fishing with his wife.
Surviving are wife, Judy of 57 years;
daughters, Jenifer(Pat)Wellinski, Shelby(Allan)Flachs;
grandchildren, Mackenzie Nemecek(fiance Taylor Mansell), Harley Nemecek, Skylar McKinney(Isiac) and Max Nemecek;
brother-in-law, Bill (Vicki) Ross;
nephew, Billy(Jennifer) Ross;
close friends Mark and Debbie Grantham.
