Larry Eugene Hicks, of Davison, age 74 died Wednesday November 27, 2024 at Henry Ford-Providence Hospital, Novi. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday December 4, 2024 at Calvary Apostolic Church 5255 Linden Rd. Swartz Creek. Rev. Keith McKinnies and Rev. Larry Flenniken officiating: with private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 4-7 pm Tuesday Dec. 3, 2024 at Hansen Funeral Home, Downtown Davison. Mr. Hicks will lie in state at the church from 12:00 noon Wednesday until time of service.
Larry was born in Manila Arkansas on October 2, 1950 the son of the late Buford and Mattie (Canaday) Hicks and has resided in the Davison area the last fourteen years; spend most of his life in Flint.
Answering the call of his country Larry proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Larry was joined in marriage to Marcia L. McCurdy on June 10, 1972 in Flint Michigan. Larry was a talented musician who played bass guitar and wrote and recorded several songs with Leo Days. He enjoyed playing pool, and spent several years RVing with his wife in his retirement years. He had a natural skill in archery and had belonged to the Flint Bowman’s Club. His greatest time was spent with his loving grandchildren and family. He was a member of Calvary Apostolic Church and spent several years in the ministry. Larry was employed by General Motors Chevrolet Division for thirty years retiring in 1998.
He is survived by wife Marcia, and children: Matthew and Lisa Lancaster, Janis and Brian Bogaert, and Larry and Marlene Hicks Jr. He also leaves his grandchildren: Justin Gushen, Tyler Lancaster, Alexis Hicks, Samuel Hicks, and Brandon Hicks. His surviving siblings: Judy and Rev. Larry Flenniken, Tim and Melissa Morris. He also leaves his step-mother Gladys Hicks, step sisters: Melia Lambert, Dawn and Barry Denno, step brother Ty and Debbie Lacy, sister-in-law Kay Jackson, many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
