Nelly Ann LaValley, 75, of Clio, MI, passed away on March 10, 2023, in the comforts of her home and with family by her side. Nelly was born in Mount Morris, MI on February 5, 1948. She was a graduate of Davison High School and later attended beautician school in Flint. Nelly had a great outlook on life and always remained happy and positive. She was a loving and joyful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Nelly loved traveling, camping, jigsaw puzzles and crosswords. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Nelly is survived by her husband of 55 years Tony LaValley; son Anthony Wayne (April) LaValley of Sherwood, AR; daughter Tonya Renee (Richard) Casto of Ripley, WV; grandchildren Breanna Nickole (Josh) LaValley and Madison Jean LaValley; brothers Sam Merrill and George Ramey; sisters Donna Headrick, Gertrude Gooding, Frances Falconer, Edna (James) Earl, Beth Chancellor, Nancy Carmean, and Patti Bovee.
Nelly was preceded in death by her father William Wintermote and Mother Ruth Vanover; brothers Park Merrill, Arthur Merrill, Ben Wintermote, Charley Reed, Joe Orvis; sister Molly Gilson.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Lapeer Free Methodist Church, 1621 N. Saginaw St, Lapeer, MI 48446. Pastor Bruce Lawton will officiate. Friends may visit with the LaValley family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will immediately follow. Nelly will be laid to rest at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hurly Foundation. |
