Wayne was born February 9, 1937, in Flint, Michigan and grew up in Flushing. He lived several places, but primarily Swartz Creek, Free Soil, and Zephyrhills, Florida. Nearly four years ago, he returned to Michigan to be nearer to his family and friends. Wayne retired from General Motors – Otterburn Plant, and then relocated to Free Soil, Michigan to enjoy life on the lake. The memories made at the lake will be treasured by everyone that ever visited. It was magical. The whole lot of us would cram into nooks and crannies just to be part of the fun on the lake. There were many, many nights around the campfire laughing and telling stories. The grandkids learned to fish and swim in the lake, and the little one’s even got potty trained out on the lawn. In time, the warm winters called and Zephyrhills, Florida became the next home. Wayne golfed and took up shuffleboard where he mastered the game and earned the honorable distinction of pro shuffleboard status. He also took up his love of singing and would gather with friends to sing the oldies he grew up with.
Wayne is survived by: Wife of 65 years, Geraldine “Gerri” Church; 5 children: Randall (Michele) Church of Clio, Cheryl (Jim) Richard of Grand Rapids, Gail McRee (Robert Chandler) or Grand Rapids, Cynthia (Keith) Burton of Holt, and Rodney (Denise) Church of Allen Park; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Wayne is also survived by his siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Please sign our guest book or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com. |
