Shirley Violet Lawrence of Burton, age 87, died Saturday June 10, 2023 at her residence. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. Private services and burial in Davison Cemetery will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in Shirley’s memory to the charity of your choice.
Shirley was born in Detroit Michigan on July 29, 1935 the daughter of the late John and Violet (Koltz) Hunsinger, and has resided in the Burton area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Darwin C. Lawrence on August 2, 1952 in Holly Michigan and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2019. Shirley owned and operated Shirley’s Beauty Salon for over twenty-five years. Shirley later started a second career as a Realtor working for Century 21, and Real Estate One until her retirement.
She leaves her daughter Dara Rife (Bill Leonhardt), sons: Jim (Connie) Lawrence, Robert Lawrence, and Thomas Lawrence. Her loving grandchildren: Daniel (Amber) Rife, Casey (Scott) Marshall, Jaclyn (Brian Cliff) Lopez, Bradley (Heather) Lawrence, Keliann (Michael) Johnson, Wendy (Stephen) Licquia,
and Thomas (Amanda) Coleman. Surviving great grandchildren; Grant Marshall, Clare Marshall, Lane Lawrence, Theodore Bassett, Brady Lopez, Beckett Lopez, Alivia Cliff, Layla Cliff, Aiden Rife, Aaron Rife, Abigail Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Jaxson Coleman, Jace Coleman, and a host of extended family and friends. Shirley is preceded in death by brothers: John Hunsinger, Donald Hunsinger, Larry Hunsinger, and sister Ruth Smith. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nurse Jennifer and Aide Brandy at Compassus Hospice for all their care and compassion given to Shirley.
