GROVES, James W. Jr. – Of Linden, age 78, died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his home with his loving family present.
Funeral service will be held at 4pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Deacon Omar Odette officiating.
Visitation 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 10:30am, Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Contributions may be made to the family to assist with burial expenses.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on May 18, 1943, the son of the late James and Maude (Wright) Groves on March 16, 1964 he married Erminia Martinez and they had been happily married for 51 years. James served in the United States Army. He was employed with General Motors for 32 years as an electrician and was very involved with the UAW where he served as a committee man. James loved nature, birds and animals. Above all else, James was devoted to his family.
Surviving are three children, Lori Garcia, James W., III and wife Ruby,
Anthony and fiance, Clarissa Molina;
grandchildren, Alexis Donnelly, Ryan, Dylan Garcia, Anthony and Alejandro Groves, Matt Murdock, Krista Weber, Jason Yonan, Erica Stewart;
great-grandchildren, Cason Weber, Gabriella and Roman Katrinic, Niko Luna and Harper Yonan;
and several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erminia, grandson Jordan and many siblings.
