PAGONIS, Voula – Of Burton, age 83, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 E. Baldwin Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Voula was born in Krokylion, Greece on January 22, 1939, the daughter of the late Dimitri and Penelope Kapellas.
On April 24, 1960 she married George Pagonis.
She was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society.
Voula loved her family, church and was welcoming to everyone. She was affectionately known as “Mother Goose” by the children of the church and always had candy for them.
Voula and her family owned and operated Skyway Family Restaurant for many years.
Surviving are son, Taso and wife Mitra of Burton;
Mitra’s mother, Maria Green;
2 sisters, Helen Dariotis and Julia Havatzas;
several nieces, nephews and God children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Bill Kapellas and brother-in-law, John Dariotis.
