Daniel R. Hinkle, age 78 of Durand passed away peacefully Friday, May 14, 2021 at his home. A funeral service honoring Mr. Hinkle will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel, 501 N. Saginaw St., Durand, MI 48429. Pastor Craig Weihman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment immediately following at North Fremont Cemetery in Bancroft.
Daniel was born March 12, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Robert William and Margaret Ann (Eicher) Hinkle. He was raised by his mother and his stepfather; Harvey Thibeault who instilled a strong work ethic and a commitment to family. He graduated from Flint Northern High School and went on to work for General Motors, retiring after many years of service. He married Kathy J. Clemons on May 15, 1971 in Flint. Together they moved to Durand, Michigan to raise their family. Daniel was a car enthusiast and enjoyed Hot Rods.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Kathy Hinkle, his children; Danette Northrop and Eric (Jaclyn) Hinkle, his grandchildren; Nathaniel, Ashlyn, Hannah, Kathryn, and Aidan Northrop, and Corbin, Colton, Adalyn and Connor Hinkle, his sister Robin (David) Shipe and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather; Harvey Thibeault.
