Laura B. Phelps, née. Forth, age 98, passed away on October 28, 2022. She was born on August 5, 1924, in Richfield Center, MI. She resided in either Lapeer or Genesee County all of her life.
Laura had many occupations throughout her lifetime. She was a bartender ”mixologist” and one of the first ever Computer Keypunch Operators for St. Joseph Hospital. Her wisdom guided many friends and her children's friends. She enjoyed many crafts as well as collecting seashells and antique Blue Willow. She played the piano and loved listening to music. Laura was also a proud 4-H Leader. She treasured time spent at church and with her family. She loved to celebrate the holidays with family, especially Christmas. She was a gracious and elegant woman, whom lived life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed.
Laura is survived by five children, Roberta (Larry) Eckel, Lois Poland, Timothy Poland, Ramona Trimble, and Rhonda (Scott) Tyson. née Vesley; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Ken Thick; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Thick; son Jesse (Nickii) McGlashen; granddaughter Debra Ann Thick; brother Warren Forth.
Friends may visit on Thursday, Nov. 3rd from 11-12 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Lapeer, MI. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in North Branch. Memorial donations to the Lapeer VFW are appreciated.
