Passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the age of 86 years. Shirley Gossel was born October 3, 1927 in Flint, MI to the late Robert and Ruby Gossel. She married Ralph Oberholtzer and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this coming May. Shirley worked at Smith Bridgemans and Buick, leaving her career to be a stay-at-home mom. She later worked at Satow Drugs . She was a member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church. Shirley and Ralph enjoyed making crafts and she was a talented painter. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gave her great joy.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Ralph, and 2 daughters: Lori (Dennis) Cramer of Higgins Lake, and Lynn (Steve) Kidd of Frankenmuth; five grandchildren: Tricia (Jason) Davis, Todd (Courtney) Cramer, Brett (Emily) Kidd, Mark Kidd and Matthew Kidd; great-grandchildren: Kara and Oliver Cramer, Hannah and Jack Davis, and Grayson Kidd; a brother, Charles (Esther) Gossel, and sister, Janet (Bob) Brownlee.
Shirley was preceded in death by a brother Robert (Gennie) Gossel.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 E. Vates St., Frankenmuth. The Rev. Scott Harmon and Rev. Bruce Malicoat will officiate with burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Shirley’s family will receive visitors at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Heartland Hospice of Bay City, Frankenmuth United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or Alzheimers Association.
