WOOD, Walter Allen - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died suddenly, Tuesday June 8, 2021. Funeral services will be held 5PM Saturday June 26,
at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Kevin Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held 2PM - 6PM Saturday June 26 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the family, in lieu of flowers. Walter was born January 18, 1943, in Argentine Twp., the son of John William and Mary Ellen (Allen)Wood. He married Monica Ann Crawford in Mt. Morris, on February 21, 1961. As a loving father of five children, he started his own business and taught his four sons how to build houses, as he was taught by his father. He fondly referred to his only daughter, Renee, as "Poopsie". Walter enjoyed golfing, playing basketball, and participated in many 5k and 10k races. He also enjoyed running the Crim. His greatest passion was loving and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving are: wife of 60 years, Monica Ann Wood of Swartz Creek; sons, Matt (Sandy) Wood, Timothy (Lisa) Wood, David (Deana) Wood and daughter, Renee (Scot) Wykes. He was a wonderful, deeply loved grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Wood and many nieces and nephews. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Wood, his son Brian (Laurie), 8 brothers and his sister. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
