BALIKO, James Wendell – of Davison, MI, age 80, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Inurnment, with Military Honors, immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Jim’s memory.

Jim was born in Flint, MI on December 9, 1940, son of the late Wendell and Marie (Hughes) Baliko. He was a graduate of Flint Technical High School Class of 1959. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1958-1963. He married Carole Lucas on May 21, 1966 in Flint, MI. Jim earned a bachelor’s degree from the Detroit College of Business and then a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. He also taught at the Detroit College of Business for five years. Jim retired from General Motors in 1998 after 39 years of service. Following retirement, Jim was a state certified real estate appraiser for 24 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the St. Andrew Scotch Society, the Buick Club and several golf leagues. Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, woodworking, flying, reading, trips to the casino and traveling with friends from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carole Baliko; twin sons, Brian (Jennifer) Baliko and Keith (Kristin) Baliko; 3 grandchildren, Victoria “Tori” Baliko (special friend, Adam), Blake Baliko (special friend, Aubree) and Madisen Baliko; 3 siblings, Mary (David) Wood, Barbara (Joe) Wood and Susan (Bob) Pichey; brothers-in-law, John (Frank) Lucas; lifelong best friend, Denny Racine; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Marie Baliko; parents-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Lucas; sister-in-law, Marie Lucas and brother-in-law, Bill Lucas.

The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of the ICU at Ascension Genesys Hospital, especially James and Tiffany, for their compassionate and professional care of Jim.
