LANDON, Lyle – of Clio, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Ascension Genesys of Grand Blanc.
Lyle was born February 10, 1948, in Flint, Michigan to the late LaVern and Dona June (Worley) Landon. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. Lyle married the love of his life, Susan Wood, on August 19, 1972, in Bridgeport, Michigan. Lyle was a truck driver for Conlee Oil for more than 30 years and retired in 2004. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bird watching, and baseball, especially watching the Detroit Tigers and all of the University of Michigan games. Lyle enjoyed coaching his daughter's high school softball team, and the girls gave him the nickname “Dough Boy.” Lyle loved watching his grandsons play football and his granddaughter run cross country and track. He was a member of the Lake Nepessing Bass Club. In 2013, he was inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his loving wife, Susan Landon of Clio; Children: Melissa (Tiffony) Stinson, Kerry (Chris) Grosch; Grandchildren: Maija Landon, Ben Landon, Meghan Grosch, Brayden Grosch, and Chase Grosch; Close family friends, Michael (Melissa) Cribbs and Dale Curtis; Loving furry companion, Buttons. Lyle was preceded in death by Parents: LaVern and Dona June (Worley) Landon, Grandson: Connor Landon; Siblings: Carolyn Palmer and Robert Landon. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for donation to the Alpha-1 Foundation.
