ROBINSON, James Delore - Age 89, of Lake City, formerly of Byron, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Western Hills Assisted Living, Flint. In accordance with Jim's wishes cremation has taken place. Graveside service will take place with Military Honors at Byron Cemetery at a later date.
Jim was born on September 11, 1933 in Flint the son of Howard and Vitaleen "Lane" (Landry) Robinson. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War for three years before his honorable discharge in 1955. Jim and Donna Durost met on Halloween at Cherry Point during the Korean War. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on December 24, 1954. Sadly, Donna preceded him in death. Jim worked for GM for 30 years as a welder before his retirement. He enjoyed farming his 20 acres of land in Byron and raising pigs, cattle and chickens. He was a member of the Home Acres Flying Club in Lake City, Michigan. Jim was a pilot and loved to fly and build planes. He was a gentle soul and jokester at heart. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and indulging in sweets.
He is survived by his children, Kaye (Gregory) Ringler, James (Pamela) Robinson, Jeff (Lori) Robinson and Laurie Robinson; grandchildren, Justin (Andrea) Ringler, Travis (Casey) Ringler, Ashley Robinson, Amy Robinson, Mark (Violet) Robinson, Lauren White (Jacob), and Donnie (Jessica) Hutchinson; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Ketzler; and brother, Kenneth (Ana) Robinson.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; parents, Howard and Lane; sisters, Paula McDonald and Bobbie Burgess; and special friend, Elaine Elliott. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
