Ocenasek, Stanley of Flushing, age 85, died Monday, February 23, 2015, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Church, Building Fund.
Stanley was born in Flint, Michigan on July 22, 1929, the son of John and Mary (Novak) Ocenasek. He married Rena Barber on April 14, 1951, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Stanley proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan for two years during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church for over 64 years, having served as an usher. Stanley was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Flushing VFW #5666 where he was a member of the Honor Guard. He was employed by Buick Motor Division and retired after 34 years. Stanley was fun-loving. He loved working with his hands and doing crafts, including, metal art, wood working and making rosaries. He enjoyed playing ball and gardening and had a yoyo collection. Together with his wife, they enjoyed meeting with “The Seniors” dinner club for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rena; children, Steven and wife Lynn Ocenasek, Kimberlie Napoli; granddaughter, Janie Brynolf; sister, Mary Scheitler and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers. |
