Black, William J. – of Clio, age 94, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his residence. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. No services at this time.
Bill was born December 11, 1929, in Ontonagon, Michigan, the son of the late Neil and Mildred (Westbrook) Black. He served in the US Navy during the Korean war from 1948 to 1952. He retired from General Motors in 1986, after 32 years of service. Bill married Arliss P Clute on December 5, 1953, and they remained married for 70 years. Bill is much loved by his friends and family for his genuine kindness, gentle understanding, his humor, and his generosity. He loved to sail, bike, fish, and swim, especially in the Ocean. Bill enjoyed playing cards with friends and cooking for friends and family. He loved a good story, whether it was the movies or a good book. Also, he shared many great stories of his own from a life well lived.
Surviving are: Loving wife of 70 years, Arliss Black; 2 daughters: Marji (Doug) Theodoroff, and Linda Robinson; Grandchildren: Lindsay (Eric) Crawshaw, Andrew (Jessica Macko) Robinson, Alexander (Kristen) Theodoroff, and Madeline Theodoroff; Great grandchildren: Odin and Hugo Crawshaw and Max Taylor Theodoroff; Beloved sister, Patricia Bell, and many loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil, and Mildred Black; Brothers: Robert Black, Daniel Black; Sisters: Margaret Gardner and Doris Pascoe.
