LISHMAN, Janet Arlene – Of Burton, age 84, died Thursday, February 18, 2021 at The Pines of Burton.
Private funeral service will be held.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity, and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Visitation 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Smith Hill Cemetery in Otisville.
Janet was born in Flint, Michigan on July 30, 1936, the daughter of the late Randel and Ruth (Gray) Yale. She was a 1954 graduate of Otisville High School.
She married William Lishman on April 23, 1966 in Otisville and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1994.
She was a member of Otisville United Methodist Church, Quota Club of Flint, El Said Court No. 28 L.O.S.N.A., Le Dias Clown Unit, El Shrinerettes Unit, and M/Sha/Chis/Unit. She was past president of Motor City Chapter of the National Secretaries Association; Zeta Alpha Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Iota International Honorary Sorority at GMI; Elf Khurafeh Shrine Forget Me Nots; past president and treasurer of Associated British Clubs; sponsor of Kappa Rho Chapter of Alpha Iota International Honorary Sorority at Baker Business University; past directress of EFH RFH Noter Ive No. Ive; past member of Flint Chapter 202 Women In Construction; and a volunteer at Genesys Hospital.
Janet was employed by Baker Business University; Lewis & Knopf; and Industrial Mechanical Contractors, Inc., retiring on May 3, 1991.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Sharon Yale;
cousins, Ruth Ann Pugh, Carolyn and husband Dennis Wright and Sharon Trato;
dedicated caregiver and special cousin, Jodie Wright Grandy and husband Gordon;
niece, Carol and husband Steven Fitzwater;
nephews, E. Nathan and wife Alicia Yale, Nicholas A. and wife Melisa Yale, and Philip H. Thubron;
godchildren, George W. Davison, Simon A. Fitzwater, and Shannon Pugh;
special friends, Ken and Erma Thomas and family and Peggy Irwin.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward L. Yale and sister-in-law, Margaret Thubron.
