Karon Ann Wilhelm, age 80, passed away on August 29, 2022. She was born April 7, 1942, to Arthur and Dorothy Volz of Flushing. In 1960, she met her soulmate, Russell H. Wilhelm, during 8th-hour study hall at Flushing High School. They were united in marriage on September 1, 1962. Throughout their 60 years of marriage, they often debated, with a loving twinkle in their eyes, over who chased who.
Karon retired from Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools in 2010 after more than 30 years of service. She worked in several different roles, most notably as the face of the office in many of the schools, including Dillion, Woodland, Randels, and Dye Elementary.
Many loved ones are left to cherish her memory; her husband, Russell Wilhelm, and her children, Russell and Linda Wilhelm Jr., Craig and Alyson Wilhelm, and Cynthia Wilson. Her beloved grandchildren; Cobin and Jackie Wilhelm, Kyle and Ciji Wilhelm, Cory Wilson, Hillery and Nicholas DeFillipo, Theodore Wilhelm, and Carilyn Schmidt. Her nine great-grandchildren; Lani, Marilyn (Birdie), Audriana, Cylvia, Carter, Tucker, Eli, Calvin, and Benjamin. Brother, Norman and Sheila Volz, Sister-in-law, Emogene Volz, and many nieces and nephews. She has been reunited in heaven with her loving parents, Arthur and Dorothy Volz, as well as her caring and protective brothers, Wayne and Kenneth Volz.
Visitation will be at Reigle Sunset Chapel, 5501 Pierson Rd., Flushing, Michigan, on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:30 am, with family hour starting at 9:30 am. Service will be at Noon.
In place of flowers, the family prefers a donation to the American Cancer Society in Karon's honor.
