Chmelar, Sharon R. Of Flushing, age 83, died Sunday, January 10, 2021, at McLaren-Flint. Cremation and a private service has taken place. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County in her name, as she loved animals.
Sharon was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 30, 1937, the daughter of Noble and Martha (Alley) Handy-Turner. She married Edward Chmelar on August 31, 1957, in Durand. Sharon worked as a beautician many years of her life. She was very talented and accomplished at sewing, quilting, knitting, painting etc. In her spare time she enjoyed baking and was an excellent cook. She and her husband, Edward, were very active and enjoyed square dancing at different locations across the country. Above all, Sharon was an avid golfer who loved teeing it up with her girlfriends and her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward; son, Tony and wife Heidi Chmelar; daughter, Tina and husband Greg McPherson; beloved grandchildren; cherished brother and sisters; brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
