Sue was born in Piggott, Arkansas on November 8, 1937, the daughter of the late Leland and Dorothy (Rodery) Pittman. She was a proud graduate of Beecher High School, Class of 1955. On April 11, 1959, she married Guy DiCosola in Flint. Together they raised four daughters,
Patricia, Connie, Tammy and Annette. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage before Guy’s passing in 2017.
Sue’s family was the most important thing to her. She embraced her husband’s Italian heritage and even though she had no Italian blood in her veins she cooked and baked Italian food as well as any full-blooded Italian. Being born in the south, she was a master of southern cooking and baking as well. Imagine southern biscuits and gravy for breakfast followed by homemade spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Sue blended both seamlessly.
Sue was an avid reader and loved to knit, especially slippers. She welcomed friends into her home often and loved to feed them as well. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, rarely missed the news, and always had a cup of strong, hot coffee in her hand. And boy oh boy did she love ice cream. She was affectionately called “Grandma Susie” by her great-grandchildren. We will miss her devotion, encouragement, comfort, kindness, and quick wit. We love her so much, and we will miss her deeply, but we know we will see her again.
Surviving are children, Patricia and husband Stephen Jaksa of Flushing,
Connie and husband Chris Stover of Swartz Creek,
Tammy and husband Scott Beck of Fenton,
Annette and husband John Laureto of Grand Blanc;
10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 on the way;
brother, Larry (Gail) Pittman;
sister-in-law, Judith Pittman and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Guy, on March 15, 2017 and brother, Bob Pittman.
