MOORE, Alvin C. – of Davison, MI, age 86, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at McLaren – Flint. A Funeral Service will be held 4 PM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Chris Radcliffe officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, 2 PM Monday, June 21, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will also be livestreamed at www.allenfuneralhomeinc.com
Alvin was born in Pikeville, TN on September 3, 1934, son of the late Burt and Sophia (Turner) Moore. He married Odell Pickett on December 27, 1956 in Angola, IN. Alvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1957-1963. He and Odell lived in Sandusky, OH for 6 years prior to moving to Flint, MI in 1962 when Alvin was hired by the Flint Board of Education. He retired from the Flint Board of Education in 1988 after 26 years of service. Alvin was an avid golfer and a member of Genesee Hills Golf Club for over 30 years. He also loved camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Odell Moore; 2 sons, Mark Moore and Steve (Beth Bader) Moore; sister-in-law, Anita Scott; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Sophia Moore; 4 siblings, Ralph Moore, Ramah Boyd, Wilma Newberry and Randall Moore.
