FITE, Craig Gerald – of Grand Blanc, MI, age 64, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Bella Vita Senior Living after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Dean Dumbrille officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Avenue Mission, 2210 N. Franklin Ave., Flint, MI 48506, in Craig’s memory.
Craig was born in Flint, MI, on August 29, 1957, son of the late Victor and Marjorie (Gagnon) Fite. Growing up in Flint, Craig graduated from Flint Carman High School then graduated from The University of Michigan – Flint. Shortly thereafter, he opened a successful sporting goods store — JoMac’s. He then obtained his master’s degree from Central Michigan University and enjoyed an impressive career working as a Program Manager for General Motors – managing a team of engineers and traveling all over the world, working on projects that had international impact. Regardless of his significant professional commitment, he still found plenty of time to raise a family with his former spouse, Carolyn Mansour. Despite his professional success, if you were able to ask him today, he’d say his greatest accomplishment was raising a family. During his retirement, Craig stayed active. In an effort to improve the lives of Flint residents, he spent his time helping Pastor Bradley Yops at the Flint Eastside Mission, assisting with volunteer coordination, mentoring, facility maintenance and lawn care. When he wasn’t donating his time, Craig could be found at his favorite Starbucks on Grand Blanc Road, making new friends nearly every day. In his final years, when his memory sometimes failed him, Craig never forgot how to be warm and welcoming with people he just met, and always lent a hand if they needed it. Those close to him never forgot either. In his final years, his sons, Jared and Josh, daughter-in-law, Alishia, Alishia’s family, and his sister, Karen helped care for him, along with the staff at Bella Vita Senior Living and the countless friends he made along the way.
Craig is survived by his 2 sons, Jared (Alishia) Fite and Josh Fite; 2 grandchildren, Teigen Fite and Lyla Fite; 2 sisters, Karen Schlieger and Beth (Mark) Racine; his aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends he made over the years, including his close friends, Jeff Hiscock and Marty Werschky. In death, Craig joins his parents, Victor and Marjorie (Gagnon) Fite and his brother-in-law, Gerald Schlieger.
