JOHNSON, James E. “Ed” – of Clio, age 67, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at McLaren Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Mark Thompson officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at 1PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.

Ed was born July 4, 1954, in Cheboygan, Michigan to the late Charles and Lucille (Fay) Johnson. He grew up in northern Michigan, in the small town of Levering and graduated from Pellston High School in 1972. A year later in 1973, Ed married the love of his life, Cathryn A. Callan in Cheboygan. Ed retired from General Motors – Flint Truck and Bus in 2008 with 32 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #598. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, boating, riding ATV’s spending time up north at his cabin, and fishing with his grandson. Ed also enjoyed working on cars, sports – especially hockey, and going out to dinner every Friday with friends. Above all, Ed loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are: Wife, Cathy Johnson; Daughters: Beth Johnson (Jeff), and Jenny Johnson; Son, Matt Johnson (Adrienne); Grandson, Cody Paulson; Sister, Cheri (Glen) Cox; Brother, Dan Johnson; Brother in law, Bob (Laurel) Callan; Sister in law, Theresa Comps; Nieces and Nephews: Amy (Joe) Malace, Krissy (Lynn) Timmer, Rob (Allison) Callan, Tammy (Tim) Batchelder, Brenda (Jordon) Velandia, Jeremy (Jeannie) Moore, Corey Moore, Dan (Dana) Johnson; Several great nieces and nephews; Many very close friends whom he loved dearly; Many other loving family members and friends. Ed was also preceded in death by: Cousin, Andrew Kneeshaw; Brother in law, Wayne Comps; Sister in law, Kelly Johnson.
