GARCIA, Santiago Plata - of Goodrich, age 89, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Kith Haven Nursing Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, G2316 West Coldwater Road, Flint,
Father Eduardo Lorenzo officiating.
There will also be Military Honors under the auspices of VFW Post #3087 Honor Guard at the church.
Burial in Christian Memorial Cemetery West, Rochester Hills, MI.
Visitation 1-4pm and 6-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Vigil Rosary will be prayed 7pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Garcia will be at the church 9:30am Saturday until the time of the Mass.
Santiago was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 25, 1924, the son of Isidro and Isabelle Garcia. Mr. Garcia was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors V8 Plant. He was a member of UAW Local #659 and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Surviving are loving wife, Teodora D. Garcia;
daughters, Cristina Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Patsy (Ronald) Bennett, Vangie (Bill)Johnson, Delores (Steve) St. Charles and Isabel Garcia;
son, Andre Garcia;
grandchildren, James, Ray, Shiela, Antonio, Chad, Steve, Caleb Lydia, Cesar, Alejandro and Lillianna;
great-grandchildren, Dilon, Jessie, Kandice, Aj, Noah and Gabriel;
sisters, Mary Lou Cochran and Hope.
He was preceded in death by parents, Isidro and Isabelle, sisters, Catalina and Victoria, brothers, Benny and Toribio (Toby).
