GARDINER, Virginia Irene - Of Swartz Creek, age 103, died Friday, October 9, 2020 at her residence.
A private funeral service will be held.
Reverend Harold K. Polk Jr. officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Virginia was born in Muskegon, Michigan on January 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Ian and Julia (Agard) Nelson. She married James D. Gardiner on April 29, 1939 in Flint and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2009. Virginia was employed by General Motors at Turnstedt for 20 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and UAW Local #326.
Surviving are daughter, Judith I. Allen;
son, James A. and wife Elizabeth Gardiner;
grandchildren, Linda Ann Allen and Diane L. Allen and husband Fred Sisco, Jay C. (Kim) Gardiner, and Sarah E. (Aaron) Kneas;
6 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Nelson and Betty Wallace, brother, Raymond Nelson and son-in-law, James H. Allen Jr.
