ADDISON, Melissa I. (Portillo) – of Saginaw, formerly of Montrose, age 36, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday, November 27, 2023, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 2PM. Private burial will be held in Montrose Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Melissa was born October 12, 1987, in Flint, Michigan, to Conception Portillo and Norma Leach. She graduated from Hill-McCloy High School in Montrose with the class of 2005. Answering a call to serve her country, Melissa joined the U.S. Army, serving as a dedicated medic for four years with a tour in Iraq before continuing her service in the U.S. Army Reserves for another four. She selflessly provided care and compassion to those in need, embodying the true essence of heroism. Melissa found solace spending time outdoors and taking walks through nature. She was passionate, strong willed, and loving. Above all, Melissa cherished time spent with her children and gave them all the love and strength her heart possessed. She is loved beyond measure and missed beyond words.
Surviving are: Children: Dillon Lorencz and Charlotte Lorencz; Mother, Norma Bigelow; Father, Conse Portillo; Siblings: Joan Caster, Matt (Mary) Caster, Alfredo (Liliana) Portillo, Armando (Lydia) Portillo, Elva Metcalf, and Adan (Michele) Portillo; Special cousin, Jennifer; Many other loving cousins, aunts, uncles, family members and friends. Melissa was preceded in death by: Beloved aunt and uncle, Jeanie and Dennis Wilson; Uncles: Dallas Leach and Tom Leach; Stepfather, Mike Bigelow, and her grandparents.
