GILBERT, Charlotte Rachel Galliway – of Davison, MI, age 88, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Dean Gardner officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 and 11 AM-1 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Charlotte’s memory.
Charlotte was born January 13, 1934 in Mansfield, OH, daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (McMullen) Lemley. Our mother, Charlotte, was a legend. She was truly one of a kind and everyone who knew her, loved her. She had a long, eventful life that included singing to wounded veterans as a young girl in Ohio to creating a legacy of 60 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren with a fifth generation great-great-granddaughter who is due soon. Charlotte was known as a second mom to so many, and her cookies were epic. Her recipes live on to this day. Mom, your wisdom, love and compassion have always guided us, and we have done our best to instill your love and wisdom in our own children. We love you forever and always and you will be missed and remembered every day. Enjoy your peace with David, daddy and Penny. We’ll see you on the other side, momma. To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world.
Charlotte is survived by 5 children, Dan (Pam) Galliway, Robin (Randy) Stewart, Tammy Scipione, Scott Galliway and Steven Galliway; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Margaret Lemley; 2 husbands, Richard Galliway and Thomas Gilbert; son, David Galliway; daughter, Penny Patrick and sister, Margaret “Aunt Peggy”.
