MEYERS, Carroll L. "Cal" - age 94 of Swartz Creek, died May 13, 2023. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. The family will recieve friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Saturday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or the Water and Woods Council, Boy Scouts of America. Cal was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on September 28, 1928. He grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a News Director and Broadcaster at WBCM-Radio in Bay City, Michigan for three years, Director of Fund Development with the Boy Scouts of America for thirty-four years and service with Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry in Flint for fourteen years. Cal married Kay Nuffer, the love of his life, in Bay City in 1958. Cal earned the Eagle Scout Award as a youth, and the coveted Silver Beaver Award as an adult volunteer Scout. He was a forty-year member of the Optimist Club of Downtown Flint. He served on various committees at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church where he organized the Endowment program, serving as its Chairman for twelve years. Cal loved times with family, the outdoors, camping with the Boy Scouts and dancing with his wife. Surviving are: four children, Robert (Suzanne) of Sterling Heights, Donald (Laureen) of Howell, Kristi (Anthony) Huettl of Northfield, MN, and Scott (Christina) of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Gerald and Roger; and many nieces and nephews. Cal was preceded in death by his loyal and dedicated wife of 60 years, Lois "Kay" Meyers in 2018 and by his parents. "To live in the hearts, we leave behind is not to die."
