A life dedicated to helping others

Paula Ann Brown, 79, of Mount Morris, MI went to glory to be with her Lord and Savior, December 21, 2025. She joins her daughter, Cheryl Lynn and best friend, Joy Coleman, smiling from heaven. Mrs. Brown (LaForge), was born December 3, 1946 in Ypsilanti, MI to parents, Irving and Margaret LaForge. She was a 1966 graduate of Whittemore-Prescott High School. She married Gerald Brown on July 9, 1966 in Whittemore, MI.

In 1982, she received her Associate's degree with honors in nursing from Mott Community College. She worked for 20 years as a registered nurse at Hurley Medical Center, specializing in care for cardiac and cancer patients, as well as supporting premature babies and their families. She was a multiple Apple Award achiever and Blue Ribbon achiever through her work at Hurley Medical Center and was honored by the Make a Wish foundation for her work as well. Paula was loving and kind, with a radiant smile, a quick laugh, and a generous spirit that touched many lives. She is survived by her husband, Gerald, her daughter Michelle (Adam) Ayala of Las Vegas, honorary daughter, Amy Wouters of Ferndale, her brother Mark (Ruth) LaForge of Whittemore, son-in-law Noah McDaid and grandson Noah McDaid of Flint, along with several cousins, grand nephews and grandnieces, among others.

An active member of New Beginnings Missionary Church in Mount Morris, she was an ordained chaplain and was a member of the International Fellowship of Chaplains since 2004. She also was a lay minister. This allowed her to minister to those at the hospital in times where they most needed words of hope and comfort. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering with her husband, gardening, bird watching and riding with the Good News Motorcycle Club. She never stopped learning, and she remained current with her nursing license well into her 70’s. Her driven, can-do attitude of success resonates in phrases she loved- “Don't look back. You're not going that way.” and “Today is your day.”

Paula is being cremated via Martin Funeral Home. In late Spring or early Summer 2026, a celebration of life at New Beginnings Missionary Church in Mt. Morris, will take place, so all who would like to attend may. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Flint at prcflint.org.

Paula's obituary was lovingly written by her family.
