SOTHEN, Freda Ann - Age 79, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, March 15, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1:00 Friday, March 20, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastors, David Mulherin, George Warson, and Michael Case officiating. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5-9 PM and Friday from 12 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Hilltop Church of God roof fund, 3450 Larchmont St., Flint, MI 48532.
Freda was born November 14, 1940 in Zanesville, OH, the daughter of Kenneth and Emogene (Guthrie) Mossholder. She received an Associates Degree from the Ohio Business School. She married Galen Edward Sothen June 18, 1977 in Zanesville, OH. She had resided in the Swartz Creek area for the past 42 years. Freda was a member of Hilltop Church of God, where she had been the church organist and secretary. She enjoyed bowling, bird watching, and going to gospel concerts.
Surviving are: her husband, Galen; 7 children, Galen Sothen, Jr, of Ohio, Jeannie (Kevin) Cummings of Swartz Creek, Sherry (Sandy) Geren-Sothen of Texas, Gary (Karen) Sothen of Kentucky, Kenny Tyson of Gaines, Ron Sothen of Ohio, and Sharman Bennett of Swartz Creek; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Clata Tyson; and brothers, David and James Mossholder. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
