WILSON, Robert “Bob” – of Clio, age 92, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at his residence. Funeral service will be held 1PM Monday, February 20, 2023, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Jon Grimshaw officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 12PM until 8PM and Monday from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Clio VFW Post #1452.
Bob was born August 19, 1930, in Flint, to the late Herbert and Etta (Jackson) Wilson. He attended Flint Northern High School where he received his high school diploma with the class of 1948 and worked at Buick from 1948 until being drafted into the military in 1951. From 1951 until 1953, Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Company C, 35th Infantry Regiment and 25th Infantry Division. In 1953, Bob returned home but continued to proudly serve his country by joining the active Army reserves. He retired as a BN Sgt. Major in 1974 after proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years. On October 23, 1954, Bob married the love of his life, Carol Johns. In 1960, Bob began his career as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office where he later retired in 1990 after 30 years. He was a member of the Clio VFW Post 1452 and American Legion Post 158 and would assist with military funeral honors. Bob enjoyed watching football, baseball, and hockey. From little leagues to professional, you could always find him in the stands or flipping through the sports channels. He liked to be outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. Bob loved to dance and make others smile. Above all, his greatest joy was his family and friends. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob is forever loved by his loving wife of 68 years, Carol Wilson; Children: Brian (Kim) Wilson, Jeff (Suzanne) Wilson, and Renee (Darin) DeFreese; Grandchildren: Korie Crawford, Kyle (Jennifer) Wilson, Ashley (Chris) Ecton, Wyatt (Sarah Thibodeau) Wilson, Nicole (Roland) Hasani, Nathan (Alyssa) Wilson, Lauren (Dustin) Morley, Allyson Ramer, Michael Ramer, Stephen Ramer, Rebecca Wilson; Great Grandchildren: Kylee Wilson, Kendall Crawford, Tyson Crawford, Lennox Crawford, Khloe Wilson, Cora Ecton, Addie Ecton, Lu Hasani, Eloise Hasani, Emmett Hasani, Oliver Hasani, London Johnson, Parker Morley; Sister, Vonnie Seidel; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Mike Wilson in 2006; Parents; 7 Siblings; Mother and Father-in-law: Edris and Ida Johns. |
