SHIELDS, Raymond A. - Of Flint, age 84, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Visitation 2-8pm Monday at the funeral home.
Reverend Edward Morrison officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with United States Army Honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Raymond was born at home in Flint on December 8, 1931, the son of Raymond and Mayme Belle (Disberry) Shields. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1949. Raymond served our country in the United States Army. He loved to bowl in the Saturday Night Guys and Dolls League. Raymond was the Secretary/Treasurer at Nightingale Lanes and Richfield Bowl. More importantly, Raymond loved having practices and performing in the skits at the banquets.
Surviving are brother, Frank (Sue) Shields;
grandsons, R.J. and Alex Shields;
brother-in-law, Howard Gilroy;
and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Michele and son, Stephen, sisters, Norma, Gay, Shirley and special sister, Maggie Gilroy, and grandson, Brandon.
Raymond will be missed dearly.
