Fuller, Timothy Lenahan (Stretch), died January 13, 2004. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 3, 2024, beginning at 1:00pm at Arrowhead Vets Club, 402 W. Water St. Flint MI 48503. In lieu of flowers Tim's family requests that donations be made to: St. Lukes N.E.W. Life Center, 3115 Lawndale, Flint, MI 48504.

Tim was born in Flint, Michigan on June 27, 1955, the son of Will and Marge Fuller of Bay City. He was the fourth child of the family that eventually included seven children, a cat and a dog. He attended St. Luke grade school, St. Michael's High School, Powers high School, and when he decided upon a different educational approach, Flint Northern High School, from which he graduated in 1973. He loved sports, playing basketball, baseball and football on various school teams. He also played in a Flint blooper ball league in the 1970's. He was brave or careless enough to join in winter pick-up football games at Bassett Park, where it was not unusual to see an ambulance carting away a dazed player or two.

His early adulthood was colorful and adventurous, including several trips inside the U.S. One good example is the legendary "Trip West" taken with his brother Tom, the eldest Fuller sibling. During the planning stage they waxed on about their upcoming odyssey from Michigan over the Rocky Mountains, through the desert, to the Pacific Ocean. About three weeks after they left Tim returned alone, gaunt, sunburned and penniless. He related how he and Tom had pawned what little they had to finance the trip, and how they jumped trains and hitchhiked toward the sunset. They hopped off a train, tired and hungry, in some Nebraska backwater. Tom had no money left and wanted to continue the journey. Tim had only 27 cents and wanted to return home. Tom demanded Tim surrender the coins, and a short 'scuffle' ensued. Tim, clutching his treasure, zigzagging between idle boxcars, somehow caught a timely train heading East. Despite the bruises Tim and Tom remained close brothers and experienced a number of other adventures together.

Tim was responsible, hardworking, thankful and generous. His son Timothy L. II (Deuce) was born in 1979, brightening Tim's life with joy, stability and pride. He did not know at the time that young Tim would also become a co-worker and one of his best friends. When Tim's daughter, Theresa, was born, he was not informed of her birth. He received a subpoena ordering him to appear for a paternity test when she was fourteen years old. He was nervous and somewhat skeptical, but when he appeared for the test and saw her for the very first time, her resemblance to Tim's mother Marge was so obvious he exclaimed "I don't need a test. She's mine!" And he lovingly welcomed her to his family.

Tim's father Will was a union stagehand proudly serving as a member of the Flint Stagehands Local 201 for fifty years. Tim followed in Will's footsteps working as a stagehand for forty-eight years which included his serving as the Local's president for several terms. Many years after Will retired, he began to suffer from advanced dementia, and moved into a long-term care facility. Tim visited with him every day, bringing coffee and donut holes, and discussing whatever Will wanted to discuss. Sometimes Will would become anxious or overly confused during the night, and on these occasions an aide at the facility would call Tim, who would calm Will with gentle reassurances that everything was all right, and that he would see him the following day.

Tim was smart, easy-going, fun-loving and kind. He enjoyed meeting with family and with friends to celebrate, or just to watch a sporting event. He loved the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings, and the University of Michigan Wolverines. During any given gathering it would not be unusual to hear him recite 'The Owl and the Pussycat', rattle off the statistics of the members of the 1968 World Champion Tigers team, sing a snippet of a John Prine song and reference the backstage experiences he enjoyed while working at a play, rock concert or other performance. When you met him, you knew you liked him immediately. He was so real, so cool and funny. You hoped he would like you.

We know Tim is pitching a shutout somewhere in the Beyond, and we are happy that he shared himself, his time, his love and laughter with us. We already miss him.

Tim is survived by his companion, Brenda Brockway-Drake; his son Timothy L. Fuller II (partner, Amanda Adkins); siblings, Dennis (Donna) Fuller, Molly (Gregg) Staley, and Daniel Fuller (partner, Leah Masters); nieces, Megan Fuller (partner, Robert Angle), Mariel (Brian) Scharch; nephews Robert (Patricia) Trenaman, Mark (Nicole) Fuller and Liam Fuller (partner, Heather Filippelli); several great-nieces and nephews; great friends, Christopher Trench and Perry (Patricia) Klein; and rambunctious Cat, Lizzie.

Tim was preceded in death by his excellent parents William and Marge Fuller; loving daughter, Theresa Jamie McMunigal; true, fun and sometimes silly siblings, Thomas P. Fuller, Margaret Adolph-Dalton, and Kathleen Fuller-Clark; and great friends, Paul Lethbridge and Greg Sergent (Butch).
