Dr. Joan Marie Martin, of Grand Blanc, Michigan received her angel wings on Monday, February 14, 2022-two months after her birthday which was December 21st.
Joan loved her family, friends and students. She especially loved Michigan where she lived most of her adult life. But she always had a special place in her heart for her New Orleans roots celebrating the Crescent City's food, charm and culture, especially the Mardi Gras Indians and her beloved New Orleans Saints. Joan loved to travel. Her dream trip took her to Ireland and Scotland, where she discovered her roots. She learned that she was 35% Irish and came from one of Scotland's original clans - The Martins.
But of all the things she loved, she treasured her German Shepherd dogs. She adored Apache, Suri, Dylan, Akira, Raja, and her newest puppy Cara. Joan would like to thank her Michigan family for making this Great Lakes State the perfect home for her and her fur family.
Joan is survived by brother, Richard Christopher Martin; sister, Lisa Catherine Martin; niece, Marcia Anne Taylor; nephew, Derrick Christopher Martin; German Shepherd, Cara Martin. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Joseph Martin, Sr.; mother, Lois M. Martin; her brother, Anthony Joseph Martin Jr.; sisters, Phyllis Elizabeth Taylor and Carol Ann Martin.
A memorial gathering of friends and family will be scheduled sometime in the spring at Christ The King Catholic Church -1811 Seymour Ave, Flint, Michigan. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hillfh.com for the Martin family. |
